While using Y! Mobile on my iPaq I clicked on "Get Y! Go Now" and a screen appeared with the message, "Yahoo! doesn't support Y! Go 2.0 on your device and doesn't have plans to in the future". However, on Yahoo!'s regular network in the Y! Mobile section they list Windows Pocket PC as one of two options that need to be selected (the other being Windows Smartphone) to download the software necessary to install on the device for it to work.
I use an HP hx2415 iPaq. It doesn't function as a phone – it's only a Pocket PC. It meets the requirements listed by Yahoo! for operating Y! Go 2.0. Win Mobile 2003 SE is the OS, there are 4MB of free internal memory, Internet connection is possible through Wi-Fi 802.11b. I don't have a data plan through a phone company or ISP because it doesn't function as a phone and I don't need to pay for Internet access because there are free Wi-Fi hotspots galore in my area.
I hear about phones with GPS stuff all the time, but you have to pay loads for it. I have an E-trex GPS reciever that links up with the US's GPS satelites for free and informs you of your latitude and longitude, and will show me how to reach another coordinate location if i type it in. no maps or anything. can i get my smartphone to do this(HTC S621 with Windows Mobile 5) without having expensive equiptment/services? what software would i need? thanks
Ok, a little clarification. I am looking for software that will sync my windows mobile smart phone and my pc in a way that I can use my PC speakers and microphone to make hands free calls on my cell phone. I want make an actual phone call using my cell phone using my computer speakers and microphone.. Im not interested in skype or any of that crap, only if there is a free call program, but mostly im looking for something like i originally stated to use in conjunction with my windows mobile 5.0 smartphone. I just got my new Palm Centro (Verizon) smartphone and I need mobile streetmaps with route-mapping feature on it. Doesn't matter if it's free (open source) or not-so-free, nor does it doesn't matter if it has a desktop PC counterpart. I just need a *reliable* street map software that does NOT require the following:
1) a data plan (can't afford one right now)
2) GPS functionality (Centro doesn't have it built-in and I don't want to buy the hardware add-on)
…and has the following features:
* can create routes from point A to point B with turn-by-turn directions
* can have all my maps on the Centro's SD card
* can regularly update streets/corrections on maps (via internet on desktop PC or manual "drawing" feature of some sort)…OR the maps are CONSTANTLY updated throughout the year (meaning I don't need to wait a whole year to get updated street-change info).
