Best street-map software for Palm not requiring internet connection?

May 31, 2009

I just got my new Palm Centro (Verizon) smartphone and I need mobile streetmaps with route-mapping feature on it. Doesn't matter if it's free (open source) or not-so-free, nor does it doesn't matter if it has a desktop PC counterpart. I just need a *reliable* street map software that does NOT require the following:
1) a data plan (can't afford one right now)
2) GPS functionality (Centro doesn't have it built-in and I don't want to buy the hardware add-on)

…and has the following features:

* can create routes from point A to point B with turn-by-turn directions
* can have all my maps on the Centro's SD card
* can regularly update streets/corrections on maps (via internet on desktop PC or manual "drawing" feature of some sort)…OR the maps are CONSTANTLY updated throughout the year (meaning I don't need to wait a whole year to get updated street-change info).

any help is greatly appreciated! thank you.

What are the best selling cell phones for all the major wireless carriers in the last 2 years?

May 26, 2009

I am seeking information for a study regarding the top selling cell phones of the last 18 months. I am trying to find a list that shows the top 5 or 6 best selling mobile devices (including smartphones, PDA's, etc.) for each of the major carriers. (Verizon, AT&T / Cingular, Sprint / Nextel, Alltel Wireless, T-Mobile). I am hoping to be able to go back to January 2006 with this information if possible. Thanks!

Which smartphones that come with a stylus, a wifi and runs on windows mobile?

May 19, 2009

I know about ATT tilt and ipaq 6900 series. The Plam Treo 800 is off the market due to hardware problems and Verizon won't carry it this year. Can anyone please give me more clues on how to get such smartphones with or without a plan (i.e. unlocked)? To me, a stylus and wifi is important. Running a windows mobile is even better! Thanks and I look forward for your inputs. Dev.

Smartphone/pda/blackberry-verizon customer???

May 14, 2009

When I go for my upgrade @ Verizon I'd like to get a phone that really fullfills my needs as SAHM: easy to use, slim, access to internet & email, texting, calendar, contacts… Don't really care about camera, downloading, music-just want a phone that works well & can help me keep organized-what would be best for me since it's so confusing? I'm thinking a smartphone would be ok-pda sounds more like to review documents(n/a for me)

Which Smartphone would be best for Verizon Wireless?

April 19, 2009

My main purpose for the phone will be to get online and send e-mails.

I am looking at the:

Palm Treo 650: Doesn't have Wi-Fi, but gets pretty good reviews. I like that it has touch screen.

Samsung SCH-i730: Has Wi-Fi, but no modem for a laptop. I like that the keypad slides away, so there is a bigger screen. But, you can't use Wi-Fi and phone at same time, not sure if this is important. Seems to get great reviews from users

Motorola Q: Have read it has a hard time with POP 3, which may be an issue for me. A little worried it may lack because of the size. No Wi-Fi and no modem. I like the size, but would like the touch screen.

Verizon XC6700: I'm not sure if I am considering this one, but it may be an option. I like the deisn of this one, with the large screen and keys. It has Wi-Fi. But it doesn't seem to get as good of reviews, if I can find them and I read it is has lots of glitches.

Which one is best? Or should I look at something else?

Thanks!
